The collection offers a special selection of designs, which all have been specially made for hotel rooms. In the development of the designs, special attention has been paid to the typical sizes and interior design of hotel rooms.
In the hotel room, the bed is commonly one of the central elements in the interior. Therefore, we have applied the typical placement of the bed and have, thus, created a number of designs contributing to making the floorscape an integral part of the room’s décor. In this way, the collection offers something beyond ‘merely’ carpeting. This contributes to creating a unique and unified whole in the room, according to Elisabet Sommerfeldt, one of the key creators behind the Sense collection, and the creative director of Ege’s German subsidiary.
"With the creation of Sense, we wish to target a trend which is currently gaining a rapid footing over most parts of the world," says Sommerfeldt. "The style is closely connected to the spiritual world through which we seek tranquillity. People nowadays often lead hectic and busy everyday lives, consequently leading them to seek refuge to places where the hurried grind of the everyday life can be forgotten for a short while. This is a tendency which has appeared especially within the spa and wellness sector. Here, the peaceful and meditative frame of mind is sought created using neutral colour combinations and natural materials such as stone and wood"
Somerfeldt also believes textile flooring solutions offer a number of advantages when it comes to design, indoor climate and atmosphere: "We have created Sense on the basis of this conviction. Sense is a multifunctional collection offering a multitude of trendy design possibilities ranging from organic and wavy lines to stringent and linear designs. At the same time, the collection is developed with determined focus on environmental consideration and indoor climate properties" she says.
"In our opinion, the textile material offers a number of obvious advantages in terms of decorating hotels. Carpets are soft and offer underfoot comfort. Choosing carpets from the Sense collection is, thus, a way to avoid the hardness which is naturally connected to hard materials such as stone and wood, to the benefit of the hotel guest and employee," Sommerfeldt concludes.
