Christopher Guy furnishes new London hotel
02 February 2010 GMT 17:22
Christopher Guy has supplied a selection of furniture for the new Ten Manchester Street Hotel in Marylebone, London, including hand-carved statement chairs, large-scale mirrors, and luxurious upholstered headboards.
Many of the pieces feature Christopher Guy’s signature ‘Chris-X’ legs making the designs instantly recognisable. Christopher Guy is also renowned for the intricate carved detailing such as scrolled arms on the chairs. Bespoke sizes and finishes were created for specific space requirements and in working with the designer’s brief, including a custom-made wine rack in the restaurant.
The asymmetric shape of the elegant high-backed chairs positioned in the lobby have been hand-carved with a solid wood back to create the dramatic sweeping curves. Over-sized proportions allow two-people to share the statement chair and it is available as both a left-hand and right-hand design for a symmetrical look when the chairs are placed as a pair.
A full review of Ten Manchester Street Hotel will feature in the March/April 2010 issue of Sleeper Magazine.
