6 October 2011 08:10:48 GMT
Generator Hostels, the European hostel operator backed by leading pan-European private equity group Patron Capital, has announced the launch of a new hostel in Smithfield Square, Dublin.
The Dublin launch is part of a wider expansion plan that will see the Generator concept rolled out across a number of European locations. Generator Hostels currently owns and operates hostels in Central London, Berlin, Dublin and Copenhagen, with a further site due to open in Hamburg next year. Negotiations are underway to secure a number of additional sites.
Commenting on the launch, Josh Wyatt, Director of Hospitality and Leisure at Patron Capital, said: "The Generator concept combines excellent value and a strong design focus with a great social experience. The latest Dublin hostel is a perfect example of Patron’s ability to identify suitable sites for conversion into hostels, expanding Generator’s reach whilst regenerating urban areas and creating new jobs.”
Carl Michel, Chairman of Generator Hostels, added:"Dublin welcomes around 3.5 million overseas tourists each year and the new Generator Hostel is in a prime location at the heart of this vibrant city. We are extremely proud of the latest addition to our portfolio which raises the standard of hostel accommodation and has created around 40 new jobs.”
The Dublin hostel features industrial interior design, custom graphics in each room, a 40-foot graffiti mural designed by local artist James Earley, and bespoke Jameson bottle chandeliers inspired by the building’s history and connection to the old Jameson distillery.
