The North East’s latest luxury hotel has selected Gateshead-based KLS Lighting Design to illuminate its multi-million pound development.

Rockliffe Hall, a hotel, golf and spa development due to open its doors in Hurworth near Darlington later this year, has handed Kristina Simpson a £1.5m budget to create the lighting design for all interior and exterior areas of the 18th century country house.

The scheme will complement the architecture and interior design of the hotel with special lighting effects in the spa, and guest-controlled mood lighting in each of the 61 guestrooms.

Browne Smith Baker is responsible for the architecture of the existing Grade II listed building and newly constructed wing, whilst RTR Design is taking the lead for the interiors.

Once open, Rockliffe Hall will offer a state-of-the-art Technogym and Kinesis Studio, a golf course designed by Marc Westenborg, and a total of five restaurants and bars.
