19 November 2009 GMT 01:57 (HuaHin)
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has announced opening of InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, designed by Space Architect, and inspired by the Maruekhathaiyawan Palace built by King Rama VI.
Principle design team Space Architect worked with construction firm Power Line, swimming pool and landscape designer Belt Collins, lighting designer Lifestyle and interior designer PIA on the project.
InterContinental Hua Hin Resort features 119 rooms, of which ten deluxe rooms have direct pool access. Accommodation includes eleven deluxe ocean-view suites, six executive suites, three beachfront villas with private plunge pools and one presidential suite. Other features include an infinity-edge swimming pool, fine-dining outlets with ocean views, as well Spa and gym. The resort's signature kids’ club, Planet Trekkers, is designed as a mini-resort for younger guests.
According to the hotel the resort endeavours to “not only enhance the area’s architectural distinction and complement its beautiful natural scenery, but also continue the tradition of carefree relaxation and respite. Just as the kingdom’s royals have found in Hua Hin a sovereign retreat by the sea, guests of InterContinental Hua Hin Resort enjoy a destination where all that makes the charming seaside community so well-loved has been preserved and restored to full splendor.”
