Sisk win mixed-use Lancaster development
09 December 2009 GMT 15:19 (Lancaster)
John Sisk & Son Ltd (Sisk) has won the contract to construct a mixed-use scheme including a 115-bedroom Travelodge and retail outlets in Lancaster.
The £4.9m six-storey building is located in the historic heart of the city and will comprise retail at the ground and first floors, and a Travelodge hotel from the second to fifth floor. Tesco has already signed up to occupy one of the retail units and will install a Tesco Express outlet.
Chris Dyer, Director North West Region, Sisk comments: “Sisk has now completed a number of Travelodge builds across the UK, which demonstrates our capability as not just a national contractor but one that can deliver time and time again for the hotel industry.”
The building occupies a full footprint site, surrounded by major roads and shops. The façade will be clad in traditional Lancaster stone to blend in with the local surroundings.
The build will take a total of 56 weeks and construction is due for completion in November 2010.
Sisk is a major player in the hotel construction market and has an ongoing relationship with Travelodge as a preferred contractor and is currently building their new 278-bedroom hotel at Waterloo Road in London.
Over the past five years Sisk has built in excess of 1,200 rooms for Travelodge and in excess of 5,000 hotel rooms in the UK.
