7 January 2010 15:49:22 GMT
Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hospitality company and member of Dubai Holding, has been appointed by GT Land Holdings Limited to manage a luxury hotel in the Yangtze River Delta tourism hub of Hangzhou, China.
The 250-room, five-star Jumeirah Hangzhou will have a prime location in the Central Business District of Qianjiang River New Town, centrally located with easy access to the picturesque West Lake area which is renowned for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Hangzhou is a one hour train journey from Shanghai and is served by Xiaoshan International Airport.
Architects Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM) have incorporated water terraces, bamboo groves and canals into the design of the hotel. Guests will have access to numerous food and beverage outlets, a banquet and conference centre and extensive retail and shopping facilities in the vicinity.
This is Jumeirah’s second management agreement with GT Land Holdings, following the Guangzhou project announcement in 2008. It brings Jumeirah’s total number of projects in China to five – Shanghai, Guangzhou, Macau, Sanya and Hangzhou and the group’s total number of management agreements to 35.
