Taj Mahal Palace suites to reopen after terrorist attacks
Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces is delighted to announce the re-opening of rooms and suites in the Heritage Wing of the landmark Taj Mahal Palace and Tower on 1st July 2010.
After the attacks in November 2008, the wing has undergone a complete restoration and refurbishment. The Anglo-Indian architecture has been retained, whilst new and unique design features have been incorporated. The resurrection also heralds the renaming of the hotel as 'The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai'.
The hotel's legendary bars, restaurants and banqueting spaces were
refurbished after the attacks and now, the renovation of the rooms and
suites, including 19 individually themed luxury suites by internationally
acclaimed designers, is the final phase in the restoration process.
The re-launch comes after several months of meticulous restoration work and the collaboration of architectural firms including Lissoni Associati Milano, BAMO, LTW and James Park Associates.
Italian architect Piero Lissoni of luxury furniture design studios Lissoni
Associati Milano led the renovation of the Elephanta, Dutch and Lotus
Suites.
Meanwhile interior architecture agency, BAMO, based in San Francisco and specialising in luxury hotels and residential projects, was drafted in to renovate the Bell Tower, Coral Connoisseur and Neptune Suites, as well as the rich and luxuriously appointed Taj Club Rooms.
LTW Design Works (Lim, Teo and Wilkes) is an international architectural
agency specialising in top class hotels, with offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Italy and was commissioned by Taj to renovate the Dolphin, Bella Vista, Maratha and Aquarius Suites.
Singapore-based leading interior and product design consultancy, James Park Associates, led the renovation of the Rajput, the Seagull Penthouse, the Gateway of India, the Ravi Shankar and the Presidential Tata Suites, as well as the Luxury Grande Rooms.
Upon completion of the renovation process, The Taj Mahal Palace and Taj Mahal Tower will together boast 285 guestrooms, including 19 Luxury Suites, 23 Executive Suites, 82 Taj Club Rooms and 161 Grande Luxury Rooms.
