NatWest supports new Birmingham hotel development
25 January 2011 12:36:25 GMT
Work has started on a £5.3 million Birmingham hotel development after Tavern Investments LLP secured funding for the project from NatWest and contracted Anglo Holt Construction Ltd to undertake the building work.
Tavern Investments LLP - purchased Burgess House at 1270 Coventry Road, Birmingham in 2008. The partners saw the potential the disused former office building offered as a hotel given its close proximity to the NEC, Birmingham International Airport and the City Centre.
Now, with planning permission granted to convert the existing building into a 83 bedroom hotel, a finance package in place through NatWest Commercial Banking and Anglo Holt on site, the Partnership have started transform the property into an 83 bedroom Holiday Inn Express which will be opening in July of this year.
A spokesperson for Tavern Investments LLP, said: ‘The feedback we have received indicates that there is a need for more hotel accommodation in the City, especially near to the NEC and the Airport. With this in mind we knew Burgess House would be an ideal hotel given its location, local amenities and the all important car parking. It has been a long journey since acquiring the premises, but now, with Holiday Inn Express, Anglo Holt and NatWest on board things are really starting to take shape.”
