Pemba, an island north of Zanzibar, East Africa.
How did you get here?
By private jet, or I’ll settle for BA First Class, followed by a journey from the airport to the island on a Reva Aquariva speedboat.

Describe the hotel building, your room and the view...
Timber hut chic. Local architecture, refined on a large scale, a sumptuous bed with lots of cushions, and my own private plunge pool with gorgeous views of the Indian Ocean framed by lush vegetation.
Who designed it?
Italian architect Carlo Scarpa.
What’s the restaurant/bar like?
A seductive exterior dining room and bar underneath the trees which are festooned with lots of hanging pendant lights.
