Glasgow-based BDL Hotel Group is to design and build a 130-bedroom Express by Holiday Inn at Clarence Dock, a £200 million mixed-use scheme being developed by Crosby Group plc near the Royal Armouries complex in Leeds.
The six-storey building will remain in keeping with the contemporary styling of Clarence Dock with modern external finishes. The hotel, which will also offer meeting room and dining facilities, is due for completion due in July 2006. The announcement follows news of a £6 million deal secured with casino operator London Clubs International to occupy 50,000sq ft at the entrance to the site.
Simon Kidd, Commercial Lettings Director at the Berkeley Clarence Dock Company (a subsidiary of the Crosby Group) commented, "We are delighted to announce our progression plans to deliver these core elements to the scheme. With much of the residential element in place we are now focusing our attentions on delivering the commercial proposition that has already attracted some high profile tenants."
On its completion in 2007 Clarence Dock will offer more than 1100 luxury waterside apartments, 100,000sq ft of offices, and 500,000sq ft of leisure and retail facilities.
