Aloft, Beijing

Starwood sign agreement with Beijing Yongtai Co to bring Aloft to China

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with Beijing Yongtai Hotel Management Co. Ltd to develop an Aloft hotel in Beijing, China. The 200-guestroom hotel is set to open in 2009.

Ross Klein, President, W Hotels Worldwide and the aloft brand, said that since the brand's launch at the HICAP conference last October, the company had worked closely with developers and guests across the Asia Pacific to "customise our prototype and signature features specifically for this market, to create an efficient product that guests will love. We are excited to be introducing aloft to Beijing and are looking forward to introducing more aloft hotels to other cities in the Asia Pacific region."

Aloft Beijing, Haidian will be part of an integrated mixed-use complex, including offices, residential buildings and the recently signed Four Points by Sheraton Beijing. The hotel will be located in Haidian district, near the Western fourth ring road of Beijing. It will include 200 guestrooms, 3,900ft2 of meeting space, and three restaurants.

Starwood has expanded its footprint in China aggressively in the past two years. The hotel group now operates 31 hotels in mainland China, Taiwan and Macau, and has 28 others currently under construction, making it one of the largest international hotel operators in the region.

The launch of Aloft Beijing will bring the group's number of properties in Beijing alone to six.
