Abode to operate hotel at Liberty Properties' HQ development
Liberty Properties has chosen Abode Hotels to operate the hotel component of its £50m HQ development in Chester, on the site of the former Cheshire Constabulary headquarters at the gateway to the city.
The hotel is expected to feature around 80 guestrooms as well as a Michael Caines fine dining restaurant on the top floor offering stunning views over Chester towards the Welsh hills. An MC Vibe bar will offer pre-dinner drinks whilst a more informal food offering will be available through a cafe bar on the ground floor.
Abode was one of ten hotel operators vying to become the operator of the landmark HQ development hotel. Within days of the original plans for the site being unveiled, Liberty Properties was inundated with calls from prospective tenants. But according to Paul Norman, Development Director at Liberty Properties, Abode's operation complemented the scheme and its aspirations perfectly: "Abode has an innovative approach to the provision of hotel accommodation that is an ideal match to our aspirations for the development. Their presence also fills a gap in the much-needed quality hotel market in Chester and will allow the city to compete with the best of those on offer in Liverpool and Manchester."
Head of Hotel Operations at Abode, Nick Halliday, added: "Liberty Properties has years of experience in property development and ownership. They have secured an outstanding site in Chester and delivered an imaginative concept with HQ."
As well as the hotel, the development will consist of offices, apartments and penthouses organised around a large central piazza.
In a separate development, Abode recently acquired the Hotel Rossetti in Manchester from Alias Hotels. It will continue to be run as The Rossetti until its re-launch as Abode Manchester in early 2007.
