The Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, by architects Red Box Design Group, is a landmark £30m development at the heart of the Quayside with spectacular views over the River Tyne.
Designed by Red Box Design, and launched in 2004, the 254 bedroom, five-star Hilton Newcastle Gateshead is at the heart of the newly regenerated Quayside development.
The hotel is sited axial on the Swing Bridge between the High Level and Tyne Bridges, and provides spectacular views over the River Tyne to the Newcastle skyline beyond.
In reality, it's a complex multi-use development cleverly organised around a steeply sloping site. Of the 254 bedrooms, 98 are Executive rooms and three are suites with panoramic views.
The £30m hotel offers extensive conference and banqueting facilities. The Gateshead Suite can cater for up to 500 guests, and can be subdivided into three suites - the Pipewellgate, Oakwellgate and Hillgate - which are named after the three gates of Gateshead. There are also ten Hilton Meetings rooms situated in the fully serviced Business Centre along with a large boardroom for smaller gatherings. All public areas offer Wi-Fi connection. Further facilities in the hotel include the contemporary Windows on the Tyne Restaurant & Bar, which offers views over the Tyne, a Caffe Cino coffee bar and a 6,000 sq feet LivingWell health club with beauty suite. The restaurant and bar is complemented by a Caffe Cino lobby cafe serving speciality coffee and tea, and a selection of pastries, muffins and home-made sandwiches.
