Hyatt to Neighbour Louvre and Guggenheim Museums in cultural district of Saadiyat Island.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Abu Dhabi National Hotels have announced the signing of a management agreement for Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi.
The hotel is to be located on the northern part of Saadiyat Island within the Cultural District, where the future Louvre Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi museums are under development.

When it is completed in 2010, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi will be the the third Park Hyatt property in the Middle East following Park Hyatt Dubai and Park Hyatt Jeddah, taking the total number of hotels in the Park Hyatt portfolio to 34.

The hotel will be surrounded by an 18-hole golf course and will also feature a nine kilometre stretch of natural beach where guests can watch dolphins and visit the turtle-nesting habitat on the island.
Saadiyat Island is a new 2700 hectare development being built on a natural island directly adjacent to Abu Dhabi. It will feature seven unique districts integrating ‘high art, extraordinary waterfront resorts, regional corporate headquarters, extensive residential development, and a vibrant new Marina district with a dynamic retail and commercial offering.’

Architect EDAW is working closely with TDIC, Abu Dhabi’s leading tourism development and investment company, to produce the masterplan for the project.

The highlight of the development is a cultural district that will include a Frank Gehry designed Guggenheim museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, designed by Jean Nouvel, and a new performing arts centre for the emirate, designed by Zaha Hadid.

The Park Hyatt will occupy 18.5 acres (75,000m2) and the resort is expected to be fully completed by 2010. It will feature 270 spacious guest rooms with a minimum of 592ft2 (55sqm), 44 villas, a selection of world-class restaurants, as well as exclusive facilities dedicated to conferences, events and recreation.

Peter Norman, Senior Vice President for Development & Acquisitions in Europe, Middle East and North Africa at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, described Abu Dhabi as one of the world’s tourism hotspots acknowledging its commitment to ‘culture, sport, and environmental sustainability.’ Norman says that the resort will appeal to visitors who appreciate ‘discreet luxury in a city-center location.’

His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Hajeri, Chairman of ADNH says: “Hyatt’s excellent reputation, expertise and resources will be critical in managing the resort on Saadiyat. We believe that the Park Hyatt property on the island will be a key addition to Saadiyat’s top of the range facilities for accommodation, leisure and entertainment.“
