The Sleep Event 2008 Exhibition Review
4-5 November 2008, Business Design Centre London, UK
The Sleep Event 2008, Europe’s leading event for all those involved in the creation of new hotels, succeede in attracting over three thousand visitors through its doors despite the worsening economic crisis.
The 3567 attendees, including hotel owners, operators, designers, architects, investors, developers, contractors and consultants, as well as those who service and supply the industry, were determined to prove that business must go on.
The only event of its kind in Europe, The Sleep Event is devoted to hotel design, development and architecture, and offers a unique combination of a design-led exhibition, high-level conference, and prestigious awards ceremony. It serves the rapidly expanding European hotel industry providing a platform for some of the leading names in design to display their new concepts and meet with key decision makers.
This year, the show relocated to The Business Design Centre in Islington, due to demand for space and further anticipated growth. As well as a record number of exhibitors, new features included ‘The Suite Spot’ – an area dedicated to roomsets created through collaborations between leading furniture manufacturers, and ‘Room Services’, a display area for companies offering design and construction related services.
Formerly organised by Sleeper Media, the event was acquired by UBM Live in July 2008. Event Director Cathy Oates commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have acquired The Sleep Event. It occupies a unique and hugely authoritative position in the hotel design industry, one which we intend to nurture and strengthen in partnership with Mondiale Publishing and Sleeper Magazine.”
The Sleep Event is set to return to The Business Design Centre, from 3rd-4th November 2009.
